The Bold & the Beautiful One Shots: $Bill’s Karma

As $Bill picked up the papers that Justin had sent over to signed, he picked the pen to sign…but he never got the chance to signed when a stray bullet caught him by surprise as he fell to the floor.

Now, several hours later, $Bill languishes in a coma after he is rushed into surgery as he is forced to listen to everyone’s rage against him.
In comes Quinn, who is angry that he disinherited him and kicked out of the company, “I hate you! How does it feel to be so helpless now, the might $Bill Spencer, lying in a hospital bed!”

As Quinn continued her rant to a comatose $Bill, Eric came into $Bill’s hospital room and tried to calm her down. But the damage was already done. Lt. Baker saw her as a suspect in $Bill’s shooting and made a note to talk with her.

The next was Liam. He was the only one who didn’t lay into the rage that consumed him. Instead, he pleaded with $Bill to come to…promising him that if he did, he would go back to Steffy and be a happy family with Steffy and their unborn daughter, unbeknownst to Liam, Steffy was listening through the crack in $Bill’s door.

The next was Ridge, who laid his rage on $Bill about sleeping with his daughter, ruining her marriage to Liam. But what really pissed Ridge off was $Bill’s proposal of marriage to Steffy. That made him see red.

“I’m glad you’re lying here in this bed!” Ridge blasted $Bill. “I wish I was the one who did it!”

Brooke heard Ridge’s words to $Bill and feared for Ridge, hoping he would not be heard by law enforcement.

Then Wyatt came in to rip into $Bill, as did Sally and finally Thomas, who had returned to town to give $Bill a piece of his mind for the lie he told about Caroline dying so he would leave Sally and be a family with Caroline and Douglas.

The last was Justin Barber, who seemed upset to learn the $Bill had yet to sign the papers he had sent over that would oust Wyatt and Liam from Spencer Publications and in turn, make him in charge in $Bill’s absence.
As everyone was giving $Bill a piece of their mind, Lt. Baker was taking note of their rage…so many suspects…how would they get to the bottom of who shot $Bill Spencer?

“Ms. Warner, I have the results of the paternity test.” Sage’s doctor tells her when Sage picks up her cell.

“Can you tell me when I come in for my sonogram?” Sage asks.

“Yes, it can wait til then.”

“Great! I’ll see you tomorrow for my appointment.” Sage tells her doctor as Nick arrives back home.

“Do you have another appointment tomorrow?” Nick asks. “I can’t wait to be there.”

“Ah, Nick. Can you come to the appointment next time?” Sage asks, worried.

“Sure, but why can’t I be there this time?” Nick asks, confused. “I want to be apart of every moment of this child’s life.”

“Please, just this one time.” Sage pleads with Nick with a kiss.

“Well, okay, just this one time.” Nick gives in. “But I’m coming to all the rest.”

“Agreed.” Sage says, with relief.

Nick moves in to kiss Sage which leads Nick to pick her up in his arms and lay her on the bed. Nick and Sage are getting into the passionate moment, but are interrupted by a scream downstairs.

Rushing to quickly put on something decent, Nick heads downstairs to find Faith has fallen off one of the bar stools.

“Faith!” Nick screams, as Sage is coming downstairs to see all the commotion.

Scooping Faith in his arms and holding her, Faith comes to in a matter of minutes.

“Faith, you had me scared to death just now!” Nick says, relieved that Faith is all right.

“What happened?” Nick asked his daughter.

“I was trying to reach for the box of cereal, when the stool tipped over.” Faith explained.

“Well, next time, you ask when something is out of reach.” Nick scolded her.

“Okay, daddy!” as Nick gave her a hug.

The three of them enjoy a family dinner together and watch Faith’s favorite movie. The night ends early as Faith falls asleep on the sofa next to Nick and Sage. After Nick and Sage tuck Faith into her bed for the night, then fall into bed themselves. As Nick makes love to Sage, Sage can’t help but wonder what the paternity test will say when she heads into the hospital for her doctor’s appointment.

Chapter 2

Sage arrives at the hospital for her appointment early. She was surprised to see Victor at the hospital and suddenly became worried when he started asking her questions.

“Victor?” Sage asked surprised. “What are you doing here?”

“Nick said you would be here this morning.” Victor explained. “I had a peace offering for you.”

“Oh, really?” Sage asks in disbelief, as Victor puts a cell phone in her hand.

“What’s this for?”

“I know it’s important for a pregnant woman to be able to get a hold of her doctor at a moment’s notice.”

“But I already have a phone?” Sage questions him.

“But this is a state-of-the-art cell.” Victor says. “I thought you needed a good phone.”

“Well, thanks, Victor.” Sage says, not knowing what to say.

“Just say you’ll use it.” Victor presses her.

As Victor heads off for his next conquest, Sage asks herself, “what harm could it be?” and tucks the phone into her bag, as the nurse calls Sage for her appointment.

As Sage is waiting in the doctor’s office for the doctor, Victor is back at his office at Newman Enterprises, with his computer open to the video as he watches Sage in the doctor’s office.

“Well, Sage, I have the results of the paternity test you wanted.”

“Yes, doctor, I’ve been waiting on pins and needles.” Sage said, who is privately hoping the doctor will reveal Nick to be the father.

“Well, I won’t make you wait any longer.” the doctor says. “The father of your baby is Gabriel Bingham.”

“Are you sure, doctor?” Sage asks, hoping she heard wrong.

“I checked and double-checked several times.” the doctor explained. “Gabriel is the father, not Nick.”

“It can’t be.” Sage says, more to yourself than to the doctor.

“I’m sorry the results weren’t what you wanted.”

“No, it’s not your fault.”

“Well, I hope this gives you peace of mind.” the doctor says, not knowing what to say, as he leaves her alone in the doctor’s office.

“Adam?” Sage says to herself, not knowing that Victor is watching. “Adam can’t be the father!”

Sage leaves the doctor’s office and heads back home. Sage makes up her mind that she will keep the secret to herself and let Nick be the proud daddy. “Come hell or high water, Adam will never be the father to this baby!” Sage vows.

Back at Newman, Victor is livid to learn that not only is Nick is not the father of Sage’s baby, that Gabriel Bingham is none other than Adam Newman, his own son! Sage and Gabriel, or Adam, will not get away with their charade. Victor will make sure of that!

Chapter 3

Nick was waiting at the ranch house with his daughter Faith when Sage arrived back after her doctor appointment.

“So, how did it go?” Nick asked.

“It went alright. The baby is doing great.” Sage lied, hoping no one would find out that Adam was the father and not Nick. But Sage was prepared to keep that part to herself.

“Well, that’s great.” Nick said, giving Sage a kiss.

Faith was setting the table that Nick had prepared a nice meal of tacos for the three of them. Just as they were about to sit down to eat, Nick got a urgent call from his sister, Victoria about Newman business.

“Yes, Vicky?” Nick asked, picking up his cell.

“Nick, I’m in a quandary. I need my little brother here.” Victoria pleaded with him.

“Okay, Vicky. I’ll be there in about 10 minutes.” Nick told her, never being one to keep his sister waiting.

“Sage, I’m so sorry our meal was interrupted.” Nick apologized.

“Go on!” Sage urged him. “Faith and I will be fine.”

“Okay.” Nick kissed her and gave Faith a hug before heading out for Newman.

Nick had just left not even ten minutes and there was already a knock on the door.

“What’s wrong, Nick? Did you forget. . .” Sage started to ask when she opened the front door and was surprised to find Victor standing there.

“Victor?” Sage asked, surprised.

“Hello, Sage.” Victor greeted her.

“What brings you around?” Sage asked. “Nick just left.”

“I know that. I just saw him leave.” Victor replied. “I wanted to speak with you, Sage.”

Sage let him in as Faith ran up to her grandfather to hug him.

“Faith, why don’t you go upstairs and play while Sage and I have a talk?” Victor urged his granddaughter.

“Okay, grandpa.” Faith said, as she obeyed her grandpa.

“I know your secret.” Victor said as soon as Faith was out of the room.

“What do you mean . . . secret?” Sage asked, confused.

“The one you’re keeping from Nick!”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Sage said, starting to worry.

“I know that Nick is not the father of your baby.” Victor told her. “And I know that Gabriel Bingham is.”

“What? That’s impossible!” Sage cried.

“Don’t lie to me, Sage!” Victor ordered.

“Okay. Okay.” Sage cried some more. “What do you want?”

“I also know that Gabriel is also my son Adam!” Victor raged. “No one pulls the wool over my eyes!”

“I wasn’t trying to do that, Mr. Newman.” Sage whined.

“There’s only one thing I want from you!”

“What’s that?” Sage said, frightened by Victor’s tone.

“Break it off with Nick and marry Adam!” Victor ordered.

“What?” Sage asked. “How am I supposed to do that?”

“That’s your problem!” Victor retorted. “Break it off and your secret is safe with me!”

Then Victor walked out the door, leaving Sage crying as she wondered how she was going to break it off with Nick and convince Gabriel aka Adam to marry her.

Chapter 4

Sage was crying when Nick walked through the front door.

“Sage, what’s wrong?” a concerned Nick tried to hold Sage but she pulled away.

“I have something to tell you.”

“What is it baby?”

“I slept with Adam.” Sage lied in order to break it off with Nick per Victor’s request.

“No. You didn’t.” Nick said in disbelief. “You wouldn’t do that to me?”

“But I did.” Sage continued to lie.

Nick started to head out the front door, part because he just didn’t believe Sage and part because he was hurt that Sage would lie to sabotage the relationship.

“I know you’re lying and I intend to get to the bottom of it.” Nick told her before he walked out the door.

“Oh, Nick, I wish you wouldn’t do that.” Sage said to herself remember what Victor told her. Victor had wrong information because Adam wasn’t the father of her unborn baby, Nick was. She had a DNA test done on the baby and Nick turned out to be the father. She knew Victor would wonder so she had a DNA test done to prove it. She had told her doctor to hide the results in case Victor tried to pull a switcheroo to make it look as if Adam was the father.

Now she had to make it look as if Adam was the baby’s father instead of Nick.

Nick stormed into his father’s office at Newman, in an irate mood.

“I know what you’re up to father and you won’t get away with it!”

“Son, what has you in such a tizzy?” Victor replied to an boiling hot Nick.

“You! Father!” Nick continued his outrage. “I know you’re behind Sage telling me it’s over!”

“You listen here, Nick!” Victor said, the voice of Newman reason. “Sage is a gold digger and I won’t have her destroying you or the company!”

“Oh, save it father!” Nick said bitterly. “You can’t play the games you play with Victoria on me!”

“What games?!” Victor said in defense. “Victor Newman doesn’t play games!”

“Listen here, father. I will be with Sage and your demands won’t keep us apart!”

“Son, Sage cheated on you and is pregnant with your brother’s baby!”

“That’s bull, dad!”

“I have proof!”

“A DNA test? That’s your proof?”

“Among other things?”

“Save it father!” Nick warned. “I will be with Sage if I have to take the baby and Sage and leave Genoa City!”

Nick stormed out leaving Victor to mull over his other ideas to manipulate his children into being loyal to him. Victor Newman must have loyalty at all costs.

Chapter 5

Sage met with Adam to discuss their future and to tell him he was the father of Christian. But Nick ruin her plans when he had her kidnapped for a romantic rendezvous.

Frightened that Victor had her kidnapped to make her do what he wanted, Sage became worried about being what was going to happen.

Finally, the car stopped and the back door opened up. As the unknown assailant pulled Sage out of the van, she felt herself being lead somewhere Sage wasn’t sure of. Then, the assailant took off the blindfold and Sage was surprised to find it was Nick and he had set up a romantic rendezvous in the park.

“Nick?” Sage said surprised and worried about what Victor would say that she broke her agreement with him.

“I love you and Christian.” Nick said, as he got down on one knee to propose marriage.

“Nick?” Sage whispered in tears.

“Sage, will you be my wife and raise our son together?”

Sage thought about Victor’s demands before giving Nick an answer, “No!”

“What?” Nick asked, shocked by her answer.

“I’m sorry, Nick. I’m in love with your brother.” Sage lied because of Victor’s demands.

“You’re in love with Adam?” Nick said in disbelief.

“I’m sorry, Nick, but I never loved you. I was only with you for your money.” Sage continued to lie hoping Nick believed it so he would be angry.

As Sage made her excuses to Nick, Victor’s henchman was watching for Victor, to make sure Sage did as Victor wanted.

“My father put you up to this? Didn’t he?”

“No, Nick, I’ve been in love with Adam from the start.”

“I don’t believe it!”

“Well, believe it, because it’s true!” Sage said as she ran away, straight into Adam’s arms, while a despondent Nick watched.

To make things look real, Sage impulsively kissed a shocked Adam, while a betrayed Nick watched.
Convinced that Sage really did love Adam, Nick ran off and into Sharon’s arms. Old feelings rekindled the ex-lovers and Nick pulled Sharon a surprised into a kiss.

Victor’s henchman went off to report the details of what he saw. Victor smiled with glee as he poured himself a glass of champagne to celebrate the end of Nick and Sage!

Chapter 1

Finn and Hayden are celebrating Finn’s success with finding a cure that loomed dark in their future. Finn made a toast to their future as the star-crossed lovers kissed. But a mystery figure sitting over on the other side of the restaurant wasn’t too happy to see the two lovebirds kissing.

“I can’t believe I’m here to see this day.” Hayden exclaimed to Finn after their kiss.

“I’m just grateful we found a cure.” Finn said as he kissed her again.

The kiss led to more passion as the two lovers couldn’t seem to take their hands off each other and decided they’d better take it elsewhere before anyone noticed.

So Finn took Hayden by the hand as they walked happily out of the Haunted Star hand in hand and back to Finn’s room at The MetroCourt. It didn’t take them long to wrangle out of their clothes before they had their hands all over each other as Finn laid Hayden on the bed, kissing every inch of her body.

But that was as far as it got when a mysterious text came in on Finn’s cell: I’m back!

“Do you have to check that?” Hayden asked, doing her best to keep him in bed.

Finn grabbed his cell as he looked at the text, perplexed by the message.
“What is it, hon?” Hayden asked worriedly.

“Nothing.” Finn said, trying not to worry her.

“C’mon, don’t say that. I saw the look on your face.”

“It’s nothing. Really.” Finn said as he tried to take Hayden’s mind off the message and back to their romance, but the mood was ruined.

“I’m sorry, Finn, but I just remembered I have a deadline at the hospital.” Hayden told him. “And you know how Liesl gets when I’m not there.”

“Yes, you better go.” Fin said. “Raincheck?”

“Yes. We’ll continue this later, when I get back.” Hayden said with a kiss before heading out of his room door.

As soon as Hayden left, Finn text back, “Who is this?”

“C’mon, Hamilton, it’s Rebecca!”

“How can that be?”

“Meet me and I’ll tell you.”

“I’m at Jake’s.”

Finn headed out to head to Jake’s just as Elizabeth went to the PCPD to visit Franco who was in jail awaiting trial for Tom Baker’s murder.

“I hate you being in here.” Liz said to Franco through the glass.

“I know, but I’m innocent. We just need to get the proof on Alexis for this murder to clear me.” Franco said to Liz.

“I’m working on it.” Liz said. “But Sam is deadlocked on the fact that Alexis had no reason for killing Tom Baker, even after I told her of our theory.”

“Well, something will come up.” Franco said hopefully. “Scott is working on a lead to get me acquitted of this trial.”

“Well, I hope it’s soon. I miss you.” Liz said as she held her hand up to Franco’s against the glass, as the two would-be lovers looked longingly at each other.

At the courthouse, Lulu is happy when the judge delivers his verdict in her custody battle over Charlotte with Valentin.

“After having reviewed the case, I have made my decision regarding the minor, Charlotte Cassadine.”

Lulu and Valentin sat vigil waiting for the judge’s verdict, “I order custody of minor Charlotte Cassadine to her birth mother, Lulu Spencer-Falconeri.”

Valentin stood up, “No, you can’t do this!”

“Silence in my court, Mr. Cassadine.” The judge ordered. “Before I place you in contempt of court.”

“Dante, did you hear that.” Lulu exclaimed, barely able to contain her excitement. “We can take Charlotte home!”

“I knew we would win.” Dante said as he hugged his wife, wondering what it meant for the four of them—Rocco, Charlotte, Lulu and him.

Lulu reached out to grab Charlotte’s hand but the little girl pulled away. “I want my daddy!”

Lulu did her best not to look hurt as she tried to comfort Charlotte.

“Go away!” Charlotte spit back at Lulu. “I want my daddy! Now!”

“Charlotte, the judge said you had to come live with me.” Lulu said, trying to be comforting. “You have a brother, Rocco.”

Charlotte gave in, remembering how she told Claudette that she wanted a brother or sister. “Fine, I’ll go, but I won’t like it!”

“It’s a start.” Lulu said encouragingly, as she held out her hand for Charlotte.

Chapter 2

Finn left before she give him the news that she was pregnant, Hayden thought to herself as she put her hand to her stomach. She wondered just what kind of mother she’d be? She was sure that Finn would be a great father.

But Hayden didn’t realize that she was being watched by Dr. Liesl Obrecht. And as Dr. Obrecht watched, she knew that Hayden was pregnant. And a scheme to get back at Finn and Hayden for getting her fired from General Hospital was hatched in her mind.

As Dr. Obrecht went along to work on her scheme, Hayden text Finn:

“I miss U. Can’t wait 2 C U!”

Finn saw his messages and text back: “Miss U 2!” “Kisses!”

Hayden went back to work at General Hospital, but her mind was preoccupied on the baby and not being able to tell Finn.

“Oh, screw it!” Hayden said to herself. “I’ll never get anything done today.”

Hayden gathered her things and headed out of the hospital just as she ran into Dr. Obrecht.

“Liesl, I’m so sorry!” Hayden apologized. “I was about to go home.”

“Leaving so soon, Miss Barnes?” Dr. Obrecht questioned her work ethic.

“I have to plan something special for Finn. I have big news to tell him.”

“Okay. I’ll let you go.” Dr. Obrecht told her.

“Thanks.” Hayden said rushing out of the hospital and to her car. And sped out of the hospital parking garage so she could start on her plans for Finn.

Meanwhile, Lulu, Dante, Charlotte, and Rocco were in the park having family time when Valentin happened along.

“Papa!” Charlotte said happily, as she ran to his side, to Lulu’s chagrin.

It took Dante to hold her back to fight the temptation to go after her daughter.
“Let them see each other.” Dante told her.

“You’re right, Dante, as always.” Lulu agreed.

“Oh, Papa!” Charlotte shouted. “I’m so glad you’re here!” Can Papa join us, Lulu?”

It hurt Lulu for Charlotte to call her by her name, but she agreed to let Valentin stay and join them.

“Yes, darling, Valentin can stay.” Lulu said, forcing a smile on her face for Charlotte’s benefit.

As the Falconeri family and Valentin enjoyed a day in the park, Hayden was almost home when she tried to put on her brakes and didn’t slow down. Panicked, she stepped on the brakes, and realizing they were out, ran the car off the side into a ravine.

Chapter 3

Finn had arrived home to find that Hayden still hadn’t arrived home. Worried, he text her, “Hey, where are you?”

10 minutes later, Hayden hadn’t responded by text or by call. So Finn headed out to his car to see if he could find her.

He pulled out of the driveway and started down the road where he saw an accident about a mile down from their residence. Being a doctor, Finn did the responsible thing and pulled his car over and got out to see if he could assist at the accident scene. What he saw rocked him to his core.

Hayden was being put into an ambulance.

He ran up to the stretcher before paramedics could place Hayden into the ambulance.

“Sir, we must really get going.” The paramedic told Finn.

“I’m sorry, but I’m coming along.” Finn said as he climbed into the ambulance with the paramedic after Hayden was inside.

“Hayden, what happened?” Finn questioned her.

“I was on my way home when the brakes went out.” Hayden told Finn.

Suddenly, Hayden felt a cramp and screamed out in pain, “Owwwww!”

“Miss, are you pregnant?” the paramedic asked her.

“Yes.” Hayden told the paramedic between spasms, as a shocked Finn looked on.

“Can you save my baby?” Hayden asked the paramedic.

“We’ll do all we can.”

The paramedics arrived at General Hospital and took Hayden inside where she was greeted by Liz.

“Hayden, what happened?” Liz asked worried when she saw her half-sister come in by ambulance.

As Hayden was rushed into the ER cubicle, an unseen Dr. Obrecht was waiting to put her plan in motion.

Finn was forced to wait in the waiting room while Liz and Lucas examined Hayden.

“Can you save the baby?” Hayden asked Lucas, as Liz looked surprised to learn of Hayden’s pregnancy.

“Well, let’s have a look at what’s going on?” Lucas said, as he placed his stethoscope on Hayden’s stomach.

Not hearing a heartbeat from the embryo, Lucas ordered tests done.

As Hayden was being admitted, Liz came out to see Finn.

“How is she?” Finn asked, when he saw Liz come out of the ER.

“Hayden is being admitted.” Liz told him.

“Can I go see her?”

“Yes, she wanted to see you immediately.” Liz told him.

Finn found Hayden resting and sat by her side, “Why didn’t you tell me about the baby?”

“I was on my way home to plan a special dinner.” Hayden explained. “I was going to tell you then.”

Finn kissed Hayden just as Lucas arrived with her test results, “I’m sorry, Hayden, but you were never pregnant.”

“What? But…..” Hayden was too stupefied to say anything more.
She just lay back on her bed and cried. She was so sure she was pregnant?

But on her way out of the hospital was Dr. Obrecht carrying a suspicious package.

Chapter 4

When Dr. Obrecht got back to her secret laboratory, she was happy to see that Nina was prepped and ready for surgery.

Back at General Hospital, Hayden was restless after Lucas spoke with her and told her she was never pregnant.

“Finn, I’m sure I was pregnant?” Hayden said.

“Shhh! Try to get some rest.” Finn said, trying to be supportive. “You’ve been in a terrible car accident.”

“No, Finn!” Hayden said, getting up. But just as she got up, she grew dizzy and passed out in Finn’s arms, as he gently laid her back in her hospital bed.

Finn was glad Hayden had passed out. The stress from the car accident and the news that she was never pregnant had taken a toll on Hayden. He didn’t know how he was going to tell her his news he received earlier tonight when he got the text about Rebecca telling him to meet her. He was so sure it was just a hoax. Now how was he going to tell Hayden that his not-so-dead wife was back from the dead.

After everything Hayden’s been through, Finn didn’t think she could handle this news very well.

At the PCPD county jail, Franco was restless. He was innocent of Tom Baker’s murder. He needed to get out of this cell so he could find Tom’s killer. He couldn’t wait for Alexis to arrive. He was getting out of this cell now.

“Alexis? Here to see Franco?” Dante said, when he saw Alexis arrive at the PCPD.

“Yes, I need to counsel my client.” Alexis told Dante.

“Well, go on in.” Dante said, as Alexis headed for Franco’s cell, but 5 minutes later, she returned only to the front desk where Dante was working on his reports for the day.

“Dante, has Franco been taken in for interrogation without me being notified?”

Alexis quizzed Dante, who looked just as surprised at Franco’s disappearance.

“No, he was there 15 minutes ago?”

“Well, he’s not there now!” Alexis said, ired.

As Dante went to check on Franco in his cell, Franco had made it out without being seen and headed for Liz’s house.

Back at Dr. Obrecht’s laboratory, Nina was just coming to in a hospital bed just as Liesl was coming into her room to check on her.

“Well, how is my patient today?” Dr. Obrecht asked.

“How did I get here?” Nina asked her aunt.

“Well, you passed out at General Hospital and I brought you here to examine you.” Dr. Obrecht told her.

“So what’s wrong with me?” Nina asked.

“Why Nina, you’ll be so happy?” Dr. Obrecht said, smiling. “You’re pregnant?”

Nina’s jaw dropped. How could that be? Nina wondered.

Chapter 5

Dr. Obrecht wanted revenge against Finn and Hayden and what better way than to let Hayden believe she was never pregnant before she could tell Finn the news. She wanted them to pay for outing her at General Hospital as the one who falsified his drug tests. And her niece, Nina was perfect to accept the embryo. She would let Nina be a mother to Finn and Hayden’s daughter. That way, she could keep an eye on the little girl without anyone suspecting anything. And everyone would think Hayden was crazy and be angry at her for pretending to be pregnant. It was the perfect scam!

Dr. Obrecht’s thoughts were interrupted by Nina who was waking from her sleep.
“Dr. Obrecht, what happened?” Nina said, groggy from sleep.

“What do you remember?” Dr. Obrecht asked her.

“I remember you telling me I was pregnant?” Nina asked her aunt, confused.

“Yes, Nina, you are.” Dr. Obrecht told her niece. “I ran some tests here at my home and it came back positive. You are indeed pregnant.”

“But how is that possible?” Nina asked. “It’s been a while since I’ve been with Valentin?”

“Well, you are.” Dr. Obrecht said, not wanting to get into how her niece was pregnant. “Just enjoy it.”

“I still don’t see how?” Nina said, still confused. She remember how Dr. Westbourne told her how she would never have children. “Your own daughter said I would never have children?”

“Well, my daughter has been known to be wrong?” Dr. Obrecht said.

“When can I go home?” Nina asked. “I have work at Crimson to get done.”

“As soon as I know the pregnancy took.” Dr. Obrecht told her. “Now get some rest.”

Nina felt drowsy and fell asleep to Dr. Obrecht’s delight.

Meanwhile, at Liz’s home, Franco knocked on the front door.

“Franco?” Liz asked, shocked to see him on her doorstep.

“I escaped.” Franco said as he came in and locked the door.

“What? How?” Liz asked him.

“I couldn’t sit in that cell.” Franco explained. “I needed to get out so I could solve Tom Baker’s murder.”

“But you’re going to make problems for you when they find you here.” Liz told him.

“Don’t worry. I made sure no one followed me here.” Franco told her, but the sound of sirens arriving in Liz’s driveway made Franco hide upstairs in her room while Liz was forced to lie to Dante.

“Dante, what are you doing here?” Liz said, trying to sound surprised to see him.

“Has Franco been here?” Dante asked her.

“No. No he hasn’t been here.” Liz lied to him. “I haven’t even been to the PCPD to see him.”

“Liz, you were there just this afternoon.”

“Oh, silly me. I do remember seeing Franco this afternoon.”

“Well, do you mind if I have a look around?”

“Go ahead.” Liz told him, hoping Franco wouldn’t get caught.

Dante looked upstairs in Liz’s bedroom first while Valerie looked in the living room and kitchen. After about 15 minutes of searching Liz’s home, and satisfied that Franco was not there, Dante and Valerie walked out of Liz’s home, to Liz’s glee.

“So, we didn’t find Franco at Liz’s.” Valerie said, so sure he’d be there.

“No, we didn’t.” Dante replied. But he did happen to see Franco in Jake’s closet.

But, overlooking the closet, Dante let Franco stay in there and left. He knew why Franco escaped. He wished Franco luck in finding Tom Baker’s killer.

Chapter 1

Allison’s party for her boyfriend, Crybaby Walker, was in full swing. Allison Vernon-Williams wanted to do something special for Crybaby to show how much she loved him. But one person always came between them. . .Mona “Hatchet-Face” Malnorowski. She had been in love with Crybaby ever since their junior high days.

“Doesn’t Crybaby and Allison make a great couple?” Pepper asks Hatchet-Face, who is staring at Crybaby and Allison.

“Hello?” Pepper prods Hatchet-Face. “Earth to Hatchet-Face. Are you there?”

“Huh?” Hatchet-Face jumps. “What did you say, Pepper?”

“I asked you if Crybaby and Allison make a great couple?”

“Yes. . .yes, they do.” Hatchet-Face says sadly.

“Why couldn’t Crybaby notice her?: Hatchet-Face asked herself, as she looked forlornly at the happy couple.

Hatchet-Face did everything she could think of to get Crybaby to notice her. How she wanted to be his girl for so long. But every time Crybaby broke up with one of the girls in their gang, The Drapes, Hatchet-Face got her hopes up that she would be together with Crybaby.

It really hurt when Crybaby hooked up with Allison Vernon-Williams, a Square, and the girlfriend of a Square.

“Pepper, what does Crybaby see in that Allison?” Hatchet-Face asked her.

“Who knows?” Pepper said. “It must be the ‘opposites attract’ syndrome.”

As Hatchet-Face walked off to go home, it hit Pepper. “Hatchet-Face is in love with her brother.” For the first time in months, Pepper knew why Hatchet-Face disliked Allison so much.

Chapter 2

Milton found Hatchet-Face at the lake next to their favorite spot, wondering why she never showed for their date.

“Babe, why did you ditch me at the restaurant?” Milton said, putting his arms around her.

“I’m sorry, Milt.” Hatchet-Face lied. “I had something to do.”

“That’s okay.” Milton said, giving Hatchet-Face a tender kiss.

As Hatchet-Face let Milton kiss her, she couldn’t help thinking about Cry-Baby kissing her. She wanted so badly to tell Cry-Baby, but she was afraid to tell him and have him reject her. She harbored a crush on Cry-Baby for so long. . .since they were in grade school. Settling on Milton’s love, Hatchet-Face secretly watched Cry-Baby give his live to Allison.

While Milton and Hatchet-Face were alone by the lake, Hatchet-Face thought she heard a familiar face near by. Slowly inching closer to the voice without alerting Milton, Hatchet-Face eavesdropped on the the voice as she let Milton kiss and grope her, Hatchet-Face realized the voice was Allison with someone else.

After Milton drove Hatchet-Face home, Hatchet-Face couldn’t believe that Allison was cheating on Cry-Baby. She wondered if she should keep quiet or tell Cry-Baby? It certainly would break up Allison and Cry-Baby, but no, she wouldn’t tell Cry-Baby. Hatchet-Face would devise a scheme so Allison would be forced to tell Cry-Baby herself.

Hatchet-Face dialed Pepper to put her plan in motion.

“Hello?” Pepper asked, picking up the phone.

“Pepper?” Hatchet-Face began. “Can you plan a party in honor of Cry-Baby and Allison?”

“Again?” Pepper asked, confused. “They just had one?”

“Well, make it a ‘end of school fling’ in honor of Cry-Baby and Allison.” Hatchet-Face said, trying to come up with a reason.

“Yeah, I’ll come up with a party.” Pepper promised.

“Can you have it arranged by week’s end?”

“That’s a little soon, isn’t it?”

“C’mon, Pepper, you can do it!” Hatchet-Face encouraged her.

“Okay. I’ll have something arranged.”

“Thank you, Pepper. I knew you’d come through.” Hatchet-Face said gratefully.

As Hatchet-Face hung up, she couldn’t wait to spring her little surprise on Allison at the party.

Chapter 3

The day of the party was here and Mona couldn’t wait to spring her surprise on Allison at the party.

When Mona showed up, the party was in full swing as guests were dancing to Crybaby crooning to his girlfriend, Allison. As soon as Crybaby and and his band stopped singing, Mona walked onstage to make her presentation.

“Ladies and gentlemen!” Mona announced. “I want to take this time to show you some slides of our favorite couple, Crybaby and Allison, and congratulate them on their one-year anniversary together as a couple.”

The guests cheered the happy couple. When the crowd quieted down, Mona went on with her presentation of the couple, commenting on slides of Crybaby and Allison during their first year as a couple.

As the end of the presentation drew to a close, Mona made a heart-felt speech, wishing Crybaby and Allison well in their relationship.

Then Mona clicked the last slide to show Allison and Baldwin kissing in the scene.

Mona got the reaction she wanted after showing the last slide of Allison and Baldwin obviously cheating Crybaby.

Crybaby was so ashamed to discover that Allison would cheat on him with her square boyfriend, Baldwin, he grabbed Allison’s hand and pulled the ring off Allison’s hand.

Then he hopped on his motorcycle and drove off, leaving Allison horrified at what Mona revealed to the guests.

While Mona was packing up her slides after the guests left the party, Allison confronted Mona.

“How could you show that slide!” Allison berated Mona.

“What do you mean?” Mona asked in a sweet-as-saccharine voice.

“Did you want Crybaby to breakup with me?”

“Whatever do you mean?” Mona asked innocently.

“I don’t understand, Mona! You really are what your nickname suggests. No wonder you got stuck with ‘Hatchet-Face?’ “

“What did I do?”

“I thought you got the nickname because of your looks, but now I see it’s because of your wicked nature!”

“I was just showing Crybaby for the cheating slut you really are!” Mona retorted.

“Now I see what you’re doing?” Allison said, suddenly realizing the real reason Mona did what she did.

“What the hell are you talking about?!”

“You’re in love with Crybaby!” Allison accused her, remembering the conversation she overheard with the inmates from Crybaby’s days in juvie hall.

“I am not in love with Crybaby!” Mona lied. “I am dating Milton.”

“Ha! What does that prove!”

“It’s proves that I’m not in love with Crybaby!” Mona continued to lie.

Just then Pepper walked up after overhearing the heated discussion between Mona and Allison.

“What seems to be the matter here?” Pepper inquired.

“Mona is in love with Crybaby and purposely set out to destroy my relationship with him so she could be with him instead.” Allison accused Mona.

“I did not!” Mona said, in defense to her bestie, Pepper, giving her a wink.

“Mona is not in love with Crybaby.” Pepper said, defending her friendship with Mona, but knowing full well, Allison was right.

“Well, I see who’s side you’re on, Pepper!” Allison said in a huff, as she walked away, not wanting to continue the discussion any longer.

After Allison left, Pepper confronted Mona.

“Allison is right, isn’t she, Mona?”

“Yes, she is!”

“I want Crybaby to be mine, so I set all this up to break them up.”

“Do you really think Crybaby will be yours after what you’ve done?”

“I only hope so.”

“Well, if I know my brother, he’ll leave Allison, but he’ll despise you for what you did!” Pepper told her.

Pepper left Mona with her thoughts, knowing full well, Pepper was probably right, but hoping and praying she was wrong.

Chapter 4

While Hatchet-Face was working on her plan to break up Allison and Cry Baby, Milton was also busy planning a romantic night for his girlfriend.

But meanwhile, Allison finds Cry Baby sitting at their favorite spot at the lake.

“Crybaby?” Allison says, tapping Crybaby on the shoulder, interrupting his thoughts. “Can we talk?”

“I have nothing to say.” Cry Baby says, turning away from her.

“Please, Cry Baby, hear me out.” Allison pleads. “That photo Hatchet-Face showed in her slide was taken out of context.”

“Oh really, Allison?!” Cry Baby retorts. “I saw two ex-lovers hugging each other.”

“But you don’t know the whole story.” Allison continues.

“Save it, Allison.” Cry Baby spits out. “I want nothing to do with you!”

Cry Baby leaves Allison there alone at the lake. Allison just wanted the chance to explain the real reason she was in Baldwin’s arms: that she was just showing some comfort and support to him when he found out his mother was in an accident. She never wanted Baldwin back. Cry Baby was all she thought about. If only Cry Baby would have just listened to her.

Mona was furious when she saw Allison with Cry Baby. She didn’t like the idea of Allison cozying up to Cry Baby. Cry Baby should be with her, not Allison.

“So, Allison, trying to beg your way into Cry Baby’s heart!” Mona said, sarcastically.

“Why shouldn’t I?” Allison retorted. “I love Cry Baby. He’s all I ever want!”

“Pshaw!” Mona said, rolling her eyes at Allison. “You’re just a snobby rich goody two-shoes! You’re not even in Cry Baby’s league!”

“You showed that photo out of spite!” Allison threw back at her.

“Oh go back to Baldwin! He’s more your type!”

Mona’s spat with Allison was ruined by Milton showing up to surprise Mona with a romantic night for the two of them.

“Milton?” Mona said, surprised by his sudden arrival.

“Baby, I wanted to surprise you with a romantic dinner!” Milton said.

Caught off-guard, Mona kissed Milton, as Allison rolled her eyes at the sight of the two kissing. She couldn’t believe that Mona was getting such a romantic guy after her actions at the party for Cry Baby. Mona didn’t deserve it.

“Well, I’m going to leave you two lovebirds alone.” Allison said, walking away and leaving Mona and Milton in a clinch.

“Just watch your back, Mona! You’re not going to get away with what you did!” Allison said under her breath.

Chapter 5

Mona was surprised by Milton’s romantic dinner. She wasn’t in the mood for it. She wanted Cry Baby and her only goal was to get him away from Allison. How she loathed Allison. What did he ever see in the rich snooty snob!

“Mona, what’s wrong?” Milton asked when he saw that she was a million miles away.

“Nothing, Milton dear.” Mona lied. But all she could think about was Cry Baby and her plan to have him all to herself.

Milton leaned in to kiss Mona, Mona called out Cry Baby’s name.

“What the hell?!” Milton said, as he backed away from Mona.

“Oh, dear, Milton, I’m so sorry!” Mona apologized, not believing that she could have done what she did.

“Are you into Cry Baby?” Milton demanded.

“No, Milton baby.” Mona said, trying to convince him, but it was too late. Milton saw right through his girlfriend.

“We’re through!” Milton said, as he tore off on his bike, leaving Mona alone.

Mona sat there happy that Milton now knew, but truly sorry for hurting him. It couldn’t be helped though. She was in love with Cry Baby.

Meanwhile, Cry Baby made his way over to Allison’s place.

“Cry Baby, say you don’t love her?” Allison pleaded with him.

“Love who?” Cry Baby asked confused.

“Hatchet-Face.” Allison said.

“You think I have a thing for Hatchet-Face?” Cry Baby laughed. “Allison, Hatchet-Face and I are just friends. What gave you the idea we were anything more?”

“I don’t know.” Allison said, thinking about her conversation with Mona.

Cry Baby leaned in to kiss Allison to reassure her that he was not, nor was he ever into Hatchet-Face.

Just then, Cry Baby and Allison’s kiss was interrupted when Milton tore the two of them apart and took a swing at Cry Baby, knocking him flat on the ground.

“That’s for stealing Mona’s heart away from me!” Milton yelled at Cry Baby, as Cry Baby rubbed his jaw where Milton slugged him.

“Not you too!” Cry Baby yelled back at him. “Why does everyone think I have a thing for Hatchet-Face?”

“Just stay away from my Mona!” Milton warned Cry Baby.

Allison nursed Cry Baby’s sore jaw with a tender kiss as Pepper walked by.

“Hey you two lovebirds.” Pepper called out.

“Pepper, why does Milton think I have a thing for his girl?” Cry Baby asked her.

“I don’t know.” Pepper lied, knowing that Mona had been hatching a scheme to win her brother’s heart.

“Well, if you find out anything, will you let me know, sis?” Cry Baby asked her.

“Yes.” Was all Pepper could say.

As Cry Baby walked off with Allison after she gave him another chance, Pepper had to have a talk with Mona about her plot to break up her brother and Allison.

Chapter 6

“Mona, we need to talk.” Pepper told her when Pepper found her studying in the school courtyard at lunch.

“Oh, Pepper, can it wait?” Mona asked. “Big test in history after lunch and I didn’t study.”

“Too busy trying to break up my brother and Allison?” Pepper asked.

“How’d ya guess?”

“Because Milton socked my brother in the jaw because he got the impression that Cry Baby wanted you.”

“Really?” Mona said, smiling.

“Yes.” Pepper replied. “You have got to stop with your fantasy about being with my brother.”

“Okay.” Mona lied to Pepper. “I give up on Cry Baby. I can see he’s still in love with Allison.”

“Thank you.” Pepper said with relief.
After Pepper walked off to her math class, Mona closed her history book. She wasn’t studying anyway. How could she? She was too busy trying to get Cry Baby to notice her. And the plus was that Milton was jealous. Her plan was working perfectly. The truth was, she was never in love with Cry Baby. She just wanted Milton to pay attention to her.

Milton couldn’t see Mona’s need for affection. And she tried everything to get Milton to pay attention to her. All she wanted was to be in Milton’s arms. Milton was the love of her life. But he refused to be with her. And she needed some love from Milton. So she concocted a plot to make it look like she was in love with Cry Baby.

Chapter 7

Mona was at her locker the next day when she saw Milton in the hall.

“Now is the time?” Mona said to herself. She just had to make Milton jealous.

“Welll, here goes!” Mona said again, to herself, as she headed over to Cry Baby’s locker and made the moves on him.

“Cry Baby!” Mona called out just loud enough to get Milton’s attention. “Kiss me!”

Cry Baby looked at Mona as if she was crazy. Milton was leaving. She had to do something. And now.

Mona did the unthinkable as she pulled Cry Baby into her arms and kissed him full on the lips. Cry Baby was so shocked, but Mona refused to let him back out. When Mona finally let Cry Baby come up for air, it had worked! Mona smiled hoping Milton was so jealous he would come to her now!

But the rage inside of Milton boiled inside him and he stomped over to Cry Baby.

“Just who do you think you are?!” Milton demanded in a rage.

“What are you talking about?” Cry Baby asked, confused by Mona’s kiss and Milton’s rage.

“It isn’t enough you have Allison! You just have to take my girl too!”

“You think Mona and I are a couple?” Cry Baby laughed.

“Well, you just kissed her!”

“Mona kissed me!” Cry Baby pointed out.

“Well, if you two want each other so bad, you can have her!” Milton yelled before walking out.

Allison had happened on to the scene and had heard enough to think that Mona and Cry Baby are a couple.

“You two are seeing each other?!” Allison said in disbelief.

“No, Allison.” Cry Baby tried to explain, but she started walking away.

“Why did you do that, Mona?” Cry Baby berated her. “You and I were never seeing each other!”

As Cry Baby ran after to Allison to explain what happened, Pepper came along and noticed a dejected Mona.

“Mona, what’s wrong?” Pepper asked with concern.

“I’ve made a mess of things!” Mona said, bawling.

“I kissed your brother!”

Pepper was surprised.

“What? You said you weren’t going to go after him?” Pepper asked, confused.

“I wasn’t!” Mona tried to explain. “It was just a scheme to get Milton to notice me!”

“What do you mean?”

“I was never in love with Cry Baby!” Mona confessed. “It always been Milton!”

“Let me get this straight? You kissed my brother.” Pepper began. “But it was just a scheme to get Milton to notice you?”

“Yes. And now I’m afraid he’ll hate me for good!” Mona cried.

Pepper thought of a plan to help Mona out of her jam.

“Mona, you go on home.” Pepper told her. “I have someone to see.”

Mona did just that as Pepper went to see Milton. He just had to listen to her.
