It’s a week before their wedding day and Hope and Rafe are relaxing at Doug’s Place for dinner with her father, Bill, and Julie.
“Rafe, I want you to know how happy I am for you.” Doug tells Rafe his approval to marry his daughter, Hope.
Rafe, despite being blissfully in love with Hope, is feeling a twinge of guilt as he reflects back on his night with Sami when he and Hope called off their engagement. Should he tell Hope the truth or keep quiet?
With Doug singing Rafe’s praises, Rafe doesn’t get the chance to confess his indiscretion.
Back in L.A., Sami is out with her children, Johnny, Sydney, and Ali, spending the day with them. it is going well when Sydney spies the paddle boats that makes her think of Rafe and their time on the run when she was in the safe house.
It was at that moment, that she realized she was in still in love with Rafe Hernandez. Then she suddenly felt nauseous as she looked for a place to throw up.
“Mommy, are you okay?” Ali asked when she noticed that her mother looked a little green.
“I’m fine, honey.” Sami told Ali as Johnny and Sydney began to worry about their mother too.
“Hey, why don’t we go eat at Gino’s!” Sami suggested to Johnny, Sydney and Ali, their favorite restaurant.
As Sami’s children ran to the car, Sami called her doctor to make an appointment, who said she was free the next day for an appointment.
Sami waited in the doctor’s office after the doctor examined her. The doctor said it would only be an half hour for the results of her pregnancy test, but it seemed more like hours.
The doctor finally came back with the results of Sami’s test and confirmed what Sami already knew: she was pregnant—with Rafe’s baby.
When she picked up Johnny, Ali and Sydney at their school, she revealed to them that they were going back to Salem to see their family.
As the children screamed with glee, Sami wondered what Rafe would do about her news?
Meanwhile, back in Salem, Hope was out shopping with Jennifer as she prepared for her big day in a few days.
“I’m so glad you and Rafe are getting married.” Jennifer told her cousin.
“Yeah. It took a while, but we made it.” Hope said as she reminisced on her journey of romance with Rafe.
“Yes, first Aiden, then Bo…it’s a wonder you made it at all.” Jennifer said.
“But the point is…we did…and all is going to be okay.” Hope said as she and Jennifer toasted to the wedding, as Rafe and Eric came up to join them.
“Is this a private affair, or can anyone join?” Eric said as he sat down next to Jennifer.
“Well, we’ll make an exception for the two of you.” Jennifer said to Eric, who kissed her on the lips.
Rafe sat down next to his fiancée and held her hand under the table as they both smiled at each other.
After EJ died, Sami was alone since she left Salem…her children was all she had. But as much as she loved her children, Sami felt alone…until her doctor told her she was pregnant with Rafe’s baby. Contemplating going back to Salem and tell Rafe about the baby was weighing on Sami’s mind. Rafe was happy with Hope, but the baby had brought back the love she had for Rafe, especially since EJ was gone.
Sami decided to go back to Salem and tell him about the baby, despite the trouble it would cause between Rafe and Hope, but Rafe needed to know the truth, especially when she knew Rafe wanted a child of his own and she could give him that. That had to be an edge over Hope?! Not that she intended to win Rafe away from Hope, but she did still have feelings for Rafe and hoped this baby would bring them closer.
As Sami boarded a flight back to Salem, Hope and Rafe were headed down the altar to say their “I do’s.” As the priest said the final words that made Rafe and Hope, husband and wife, Rafe kissed his bride as the guests congratulated the couple for finally making it down the aisle.
Rafe and Hope walked hand in hand down the church aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Rafe Hernandez, as the duo and wedding guests arrived at Doug’s Place for a reception celebrating the event.
Meanwhile, Sami’s flight had just landed as she escorted Johnny, Ali and Sydney off the plane where they were happy to be back home in Salem. All except Sami, who wondered what Rafe would think when he saw her after their one night together that had made a baby, as Sami patted her stomach, feeling the baby kick for the first time.
Having learned that and Rafe and Hope were at Doug’s Place, but not knowing that they had just tied the knot, Sami headed over there to tell Rafe about the baby.
Rafe and Hope were dancing their first dance as husband and wife when Sami showed up to tell Rafe about the baby. It was Hope who spied Sami walk into the restaurant as she pulled away from a confused Rafe and headed over to Sami to confront her for ruining her happiness.
“Isn’t it enough you slept with Rafe before you left town. What are you doing here, Sami?”
“I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?”
“As if you can’t guess from my attire, but yes, Sami, you’re interrupting my wedding reception!”
“You and Rafe married?!”
“Yes, Sami, despite sleeping with my husband, he still married me!” Hope gloated.
Sami felt sick to her stomach as she rubbed her stomach, leading Hope to believe Sami may be pregnant.
“Sami, are you pregnant?” Hope asked, hoping her fears were unfounded.
But Sami just ran off, not knowing whether she should tell Rafe about the baby now that he had married Hope.
“Hope, what did you say to Sami to make her run off?” Rafe grilled his wife.
“Nothing.” Hope said innocently, not wanting Rafe to know her suspicion.
But Rafe darted after Sami leaving a bewildered Hope wondering if she had done the wrong thing.
Rafe caught up to Sami where he found her in Horton Square.
“Sami, what brought you back to Salem?” Rafe grilled his ex-wife.
“Rafe, I have something to tell you, but I don’t know how now that you’re married to Hope.” Sami cried in Rafe’s arms.
“Don’t tell me. EJ’s alive?!” Rafe said, half joking, as Sami slapped him.
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t resist.” Rafe said, knowing EJ was the love of her life. He knew better than to say it, but….
“I have some news to tell you.”
“Sami, you know you can tell me anything.”
“Well, I don’t know how you’ll take this?”
“C’mon, just spit it out.” Rafe urged, unaware of what she was about to tell him.
“I’m pregnant! With you’re baby.” Sami came out and said it after Rafe’s encouragement.
Sami’s news left Rafe speechless, despite the fact how much he wanted a family of his own, he had just married Hope. And this news changed things dramatically.
“I don’t know what to say.” Was all that Rafe could say before leaving Sami alone.
As Rafe went off alone to think about the new revelations in his life: his marriage to Hope and his baby that Sami was carrying, Sami and Hope were both left to wonder about what Rafe would do?
