Chapter 1

“Doctor, she’s unconscious.” The nurse informs Stitch after Avery has just given birth to pre-mature twins, a boy and a girl.

“Avery!” Nick cries out as Stitch orders the nurse to take him out of the delivery room so he can work on Avery.

“Just relax, Mr. Newman.” The nurse tries to calm Nick down.

“She’ll be okay?” Nick says worried.

“The doctor is doing the best he can and will inform you when he knows something.” The nurse reassures him.

As Stitch works to save Avery, the other staff take the twins away to the neonatal unit to place the twins in an incubator to sustain their life. As a concerned Nick looks on, he calls Victor and Nikki to let them know the news of Avery and the twins.

Victor and Nikki, along with Victoria and Billy, have arrived at Genoa City Memorial just as Stitch is about to deliver Nick the news about Avery and the twins.

“Stitch, how are Avery and the twins?” Nick asks as Victor, Nikki, Victoria and Billy eagerly await Stitch’s report.

“Avery is okay and is recovering in her room.” Stitch tells Nick and his family.

“The twins, born early, are in an incubator in the neonatal unit.”

“Can I go see Avery?” Nick asks him.

“Yes, but one at a time.” Stitch tells Nick. “She needs her rest.”

“Can we go see the twins?” Victoria asks Stitch, with the others waiting for his answer.

“You can view the twins outside the window until we examine the twins.” Stitch told them all.

As Nick heads to Avery’s room to see her, Victor, Nikki, Victoria and Billy head to the neonatal unit to see the twins.

Chapter 2

Nick enters Avery’s hospital room and holds her hand. As he is praying for her life to be spared, a groggy Avery opens her eyes.

“Dylan, are the twins okay?” Avery asks.

“Avery, it’s Nick.” Nick replies to her.

“Nick, what are you doing here?” Avery panics. “Where’s my husband, Dylan?”

“Avery, I’m your husband.” Nick says as he tries to comfort a confused Avery.

“Get away from me!” Avery yells at him.

A nurse comes in after hearing all the commotion.

“What’s going on in here?!”

“Get this man out of here?!” a confused Avery demands.

“Avery!” Nick pleads as the nurse escorts Nick out of Avery’s room.

“Mr. Newman, you’ll have to leave. You’re upsetting the patient.”

“She’s my wife.” Nick pleads.

The nurse leaves Nick in the waiting room and heads back to Avery’s room where Stitch has been examining Avery. After examining Avery, he heads to Nick who is waiting in the waiting room for Avery’s prognosis.

“Stitch, how is she?” Nick asks, worried.

“She’s fine, physically.”

“But?” Nick inquires.

“But Avery has amnesia.” Stitch tells him.

“Will she remember who I am?”

“I don’t want to say so let’s just see what happens.” Stitch tells Nick.
“Can I see her?”

“She’s asking for Dylan.” Stitch tells him.

“Did some say my name?” Dylan asks Stitch as he arrives at GCMH after being called by the nurse.

“Yes, Dylan, Avery Newman is asking for you.” Stitch says.

“What about?” Dylan asks confused. “We have no business with each other?”

“Avery has amnesia and thinks you’re her husband.” Stitch informs Dylan.

“Okay.” Dylan replies. “What do I tell her?”

“Play along. . .for now.” Stitch instructs. “Any correction in Avery’s belief may jeopardize her recovery.”

“Okay. Thanks for the update.” Dylan says as he heads for Avery’s room.

Dylan arrives at Avery’s room and pauses before going in. Dylan doesn’t want to do this despite the way they ended things. But he did care about Avery’s recovery. Going against his best thinking, Dylan decides to play along, hoping that Avery will remember soon who she is really married to.

“Avery?” Dylan asks Avery, who has been resting peacefully and who lights up when she sees him.

“Dylan, you came!” Avery says.

“Yes.” Was all Dylan could say.

“How are the twins?”

“Twins?”

“Our babies.” Avery says, confused. “You are their father.”

“Ah, they’re fine but in NICU.”

“Have you seen them?”

“No, not yet.”

“I don’t understand? Why haven’t you? You were here for the birth?” Avery says confused.

“No, Avery. Nick was. He took my place in the delivery room because I was called away on business.” Dylan said, playing along with what Stitch told him.

“But you were excited about these twins?” Avery accuses. “Why would you go away when I was about to deliver?”

“I’m sorry Avery, it couldn’t be help, so Nick stepped in during my absence.”
“Well, can I have a kiss?”

“Ah, sure.” Dylan said as he gave her a peck on the forehead.

“That’s it.”

“I don’t want to put harm on you while recovering.” Was all the excuse Dylan to come up with.

“Oh. Well, I’m tired.” Avery told him.

“Ok. I’ll let you get some rest.” Dylan says then heads out.

As soon as Dylan leaves, Avery gets out of her bed and leaves her hospital room to find see the twins in NICU.

Chapter 3

Nick finds a weak Avery at the window to the NICU.

“Avery, what are you doing out of bed?” Nick blasts her caringly, as he walks her back to her room.

“I wanted to see my babies.” Avery pleaded.

“There’ll be time for that later.” Nick coaxes. “Right now, you need to get your rest so you can heal and take care of your babies.”

Avery relented and let Nick help her back to her room, seeing how Nick wasn’t going to give in. Nick helped Avery back to bed so she could rest comfortably. Then started to leave so Avery could rest.

“Nick?” Avery called after him. “Don’t go.”

“I wanted you to get your rest.” Nick replied.

“Stay.” Avery pleaded.

Nick did as Avery requested and sat down next to her bed.

“So, Avery, we have a problem?” Nick told her.

“What?” Avery asked, worriedly. “Is something wrong with the babies?”

“Hell yeah, there’s something wrong?”

“Oh, no, they’re….” Avery started to say before Nick cut her off.

“They need names.”

“Names?”

“Yeah, Avery, what are we going to name our babies?”

“Oh, thank god.” Avery relaxed. “You had me scared for a minute.”

“Well, I had them picked out before they were born.” Avery replied.

“So what did you come up with?”

“Skylre Savannah Newman and Samuel Gabriel Newman?”

“Skylre Savannah and Samuel Gabriel? Nick mused, as Avery looked worried at him.

Nick teased Avery for about 5 minutes before giving his approval.

“I like it!” Nick said, ecstatically.

“Well, I think we named our babies!” Avery said happily as Victor and Nikki came into to see Avery.

“Well, you’re the first to hear the news.” Nick told his parents.

“What news?” Nikki asked.

“Avery and I have given names to the twins.” Nick said.

“Well, don’t keep us in suspense?” Victor demanded in a friendly tone.

“Skylre Savannah and Samuel Gabriel Newman.” Avery told Victor and Nikki.

“Oh, I think they are glorious names!” Nikki told Nick and Avery happily.

The four of them celebrated Nick and Avery’s twins when the doctor showed up with news for Nick and Avery.
