Starr Manning was dying inside. Her boyfriend, Cole, and their beloved daughter Hope had been tragically killed when their car went over a cliff. Six months have passed and Starr is engaged to be married to James Ford. But as the day draws near, something deep inside her tells her not to marry James. Then Starr mysteriously disappears the day before she is to marry James….
It is the day before her wedding to James Ford. After her boyfriend, Cole, and their beloved daughter, Hope are tragically killed in a car accident, Starr feels empty inside. A romance with Michael Corinthos in Port Charles is abruptly ended as Starr heads back to Llanview, and a renewed romance with James Ford. Six months later, James proposes to Starr and reluctantly, she accepts. But now, a day before the ceremony, Starr still feels empty inside. She wonders if she can go through with the ceremony.
In the chapel of church, James is waiting for his bride-to-be as the music plays, waiting for the bride to begin her walk down the aisle. Starr’s father, Todd Manning is waiting in the foyer of the church for his daughter to walk down the stairs. But Starr is a no-show. The music halts as the wedding guests discover that the bride-to-be isn’t there.
Todd runs up to the room where Starr is supposed to be getting ready. Todd opens the door to discover Starr missing. Where did she go, Todd wonders? Did she leave on her own? Or did someone whisk her off?
Todd sadly comes down the stairs and announces to the guests that the bride-to-be has disappeared and is no where to be seen. James can’t believe what Todd is saying. He gets into a argument with Todd, accusing him of kidnapping Starr to prevent James from marrying him.
“You liar!” James accuses Todd. “You had Starr taken away! You never wanted Starr to marry me!”
“I admit I never liked you, but I have no idea where Starr is!” Todd states, matter-of-factly.
James lunges towards Todd, but Todd backs away, sending James straight into the cake. He comes up, covered in chocolate cake and vanilla frosting. Todd laughs at the sight of James covered in cake.
Just then, Blair, Starr’s mother, tells the two men to calm down.
“Okay, Todd! James! Let’s calm down and think about Starr! We need to figure out what happened to her.”
“You’re right, Blair. Starr is who we should be thinking about.” Todd apologizes.
As the wedding guests wonder what happened to Starr, Starr is found safe and sound in a magical room set up for a blissful night of romance.
Starr wakes up inside a room set up for blissful night of romance. The last thing she remembers is getting ready to walk down the aisle to marry James Ford. And wondering if she should marry James. Then she blacks out from a blow to the head. She reaches up to her head to feel the bump on the back of her head.
Just then, the door opens and Starr is stunned to see who it is.
Cole comes in holding their daughter Hope. With tears of joy, Starr doesn’t think twice. She runs into Cole’s arms and hugs the two of them.
“Oh, Cole, I’m so glad your alive. But I don’t understand? You and Hope went over that cliff?”
“I don’t either. All I know is I awoke in a hospital room with a massive headache.”
Starr is so happy she kisses Cole. Then she takes Hope from his arms.
“Oh my little girl. I’ve missed you so. A part of me died when I you died. . .or thought you died.”
Starr just hugs her daughter. Then Cole has Hope taken back to her room to sleep.
“So where were we when that car went over that cliff?” Cole asks Starr.
“I believe we were discussing plans to get married.” An elated Starr replies.
“Let’s just put those plans on hold for now.”
And Cole kisses Starr sweetly on the lips. The two lovers lock lips and fall onto the bed together. They spend the rest of the night in a magical embrace making love to each other.
Meanwhile on a Greek Island…
“Let me out of here!” the real Cole Thornhart demands.
Just then, Helena Cassadine comes through the double doors of her basement.
“What is all the commotion in here?” Helena screams.
“I want to know why I am here and where my daughter is?” Cole spits out angryily.
“Your daughter is fine. She’s playing in the playroom.” Helena responds.
“Who are you?”
“I am Helena Cassadine.”
“Cassadine? Why does that name sound familiar?”
“You don’t need to concern yourself with that, young man. You aren’t getting out of here anytime soon.”
“Just what do you mean by that?”
“I know you were on you’re way to see your precious Starr.”
“Yeah, we were going to get married.”
“Well, let’s just say, you will getting married.”
“Oh, Cole, dear, Starr and Cole will be getting married. It just won’t be you she’ll actually be marrying.”
“What do you mean by that?”
But Helena leaves before answering his last question, leaving Cole in total bewilderment. Just who is Helena Cassadine, and what does she have in mind for Starr?
The next morning, Starr wakes up to find Cole missing from the bed. It was a wonderful time being back in Cole’s arms, but something wasn’t right. Starr couldn’t put her finger on it, but something just didn’t feel right about making love to Cole last night. And Starr didn’t feel the same connection to Hope that she did before. But Starr puts the thought out of her mind. She just wants to concentrate on having Cole and Hope back in her life. That’s all that matters, Starr thinks to herself.
Starr puts on her robe and goes down the hall to play with Hope. Oh, how she missed playing with her daughter. Starr enjoys watching Hope play with the dolls that are in the playroom. There is even the Mr. Sprinkles that Hope had given Hope right before Cole and Hope had “died.” Hope loved that doll. So why wasn’t she playing with it. When Starr gave it to her, Hope wouldn’t put it down. She carried it with her everywhere. But now it lay on the floor, forgotten, as Hope latched onto another doll.
Just then, Cole appeared in the doorway, Starr forgetting what her last thought was. She was just glad to see Cole. She went to give Cole a Cole, glad to see him.
“So, how are my two favorite girls?” Cole asks, after kissing Starr.
“We’re just great. I came in here to watch Hope play. You don’t know how much I missed you too. My heart died when I thought you two were dead.”
“Well, we’re back now, Starr. You have nothing to worry about.” Cole says, reassuring her.
“So, what are we going to do today?”
“Well, let’s go on a family picnic.” Cole replies to Starr.
“That sounds like a great idea.”
Cole and Starr head downstairs to plan and make arrangements for their family picnic. They decide to go to their favorite spot in the park. As Cole are preparing for their picnic, Cole receives a text from Helena:
“I need to talk to you right away.”
When Cole sees it, he makes an excuse to leave Starr as she continues to prepare for their family picnic.
“Yes, Grandmother, what is it?”
“Stefan, I need to know how things went with Starr?”
“They are great, Grandmother. Starr doesn’t suspect a thing. She thinks I’m Cole and that the little girl in the playroom is her daughter Hope.” Stefan reassures her.
“Oh, thank you Stefan. I’m so glad you’re on my side. I thought your father, Stefan, Sr. would’ve turned you against me. I can now see where your loyalties now lie.”
“Yes, Grandmother. Now I have to get back to Starr before she wonders where I am.”
“You’re still going through with the wedding?”
“Yes, Grandmother. We’re discussing the arrangements. We’ve planned a family picnic at our favorite spot in the park.”
“Great! You’re doing a great job, Stefan. I knew you would never disappoint me.”
Stefan ends their call and heads back to the kitchen to help Starr with their picnic. He is falling in love with Starr after their night of lovemaking. He is going to make sure the real Cole stays in the cell back on that Greek island. He will do whatever it takes to make sure the real Cole doesn’t resurface.
Cole had to find his escape and he had to make it fast. He missed Starr and Hope so bad. But how was he going to get out of here. Helena was too smart to make a quick getaway. He had to be sneaky. Way more crafty than Helena. He had to be “a friend” to Helena to gain her trust. Cole saw his chance when Helena came into the dungeon.
“Well, good morning, Cole.” Helena greeted, proudly.
“Good morning, Helena.” Cole replied back.
“I brought your breakfast.”
“Thank you, Helena.”
“What’s this? Gratitude?”
“I got hungry. I was waiting for my breakfast.”
“Oh, so now you decide to cooperate?”
“Well, I was just thinking. . .I wanted to ask if you needed help around your place?” Cole inquired.
“What kind of help?” Helena, asked, curious.
“A manservant. Butler. I bet your mansion hasn’t been cleaned well in a very long time?”
“How would you know that?”
“You left your video monitor on down here last night.”
“What? How the he—-? I’ll have to talk to Carlos about that one.”
“The point is, I heard everything you and Carlos are planning. I know every little detail of your business dealings.”
“You learned all that from one video?”
“Yes. I studied everything.”
“So, what are you implying?”
“What kind of deal?”
“I want to work for you. As your personal assistant.”
“Hmmmmmm. . .that’s not a bad idea.”
“So. . .do we have a deal?”
“Okay, Cole. . .you are now my p. a.”
“When do I get out of here to start my new job?”
“I’ll be down here in an hour. I’ll let you freshen up first. I’ll go prepare your new room for you. You’ll be living upstairs next to my suite.”
Helena left Cole to freshen up and get ready and a sly smile on his face. Cole had a plan to escape. He didn’t think it was going to be easy to gain Helena’s trust. He was looking forward to his plan.
Starr and Cole had just arrived at their favorite spot in the park with Hope, when Cole got a text and without notice, rushed back to the car without so much as a kiss. Cole had been acting strangely the last few days after they had renewed their love by making love. Cole wasn’t the loving man Starr had always known him to be. After they made love, Cole barely touched her anymore. She had yet to figure it out, but somehow, Cole wasn’t the man she knew him to be. But Starr didn’t want to think about that. She wanted to watch Hope play on the swings, and the slide. It made Starr happy just watching Hope play. Starr loved spending time and playing with Hope. So Starr spent the rest of the day in the park with Hope, pushing her on the swing and watching her on the slide, and pushing her on the merry-go-round.
While, back at Cole’s apartment……
“Okay Grandmother. I’m back at the apartment. What do you want that was so important? I was having a picnic with Starr and the Hope.”
“I’m sorry, Stefan. But it couldn’t be helped.”
“Well, what do you want?”
“I need you to keep a tight reign on Starr and Hope. I think Cole is planning an escape here. So I have moved him into the mansion as my personal assistant so I can keep a tight watch on him.”
“Just make sure he doesn’t ever escape. If Cole ever escapes and makes it back to Llanview, he’ll be sorry and so will anyone who allows him to escape.”
“Don’t worry, Stefan. Everything is under control. Cole is under my watch and the real Hope is right here in the nursery.”
“I hope so, Grandmother.”
And Stefan/Cole hung up. He had to get back to Starr and Hope. He had to make Starr his before the real Cole came back and reclaimed Starr as his wife. Stefan was not going to let that happen. He text Starr and told her he was on his way back to the park.
Cole was desperate to find where Helena put Hope. He had to find her and get back to starr. He missed Starr and Hope so badly. That’s why his plan to be Helena’s manservant had to work. He had to make Helena trust him enough to find where she hid Hope so he could make his escape with Hope and get back to Llanview and to Starr.
Cole’s moment was about to happen. Helena came into the dungeon and unlocked his chamber.
“Well, Cole, you’re free. You are officially my manservant. Don’t make me regret this.” Helena warned him.
“I won’t Ms. Cassadine.” Cole said, as he looked her in the eye.
“Well, you are in charge of housemaids, oversee all their work, and make sure everything is up to par the way I like.” Helena explained to Cole.
“Yes, Ma’am. I got it.”
Helena showed Cole to his new chambers in the Cassidine Palace. He got breakfast per Helena’s orders before settling into his new job as overseer of all the maids. But what Cole couldn’t wait for was to do everything in his power to locate Hope and get out of this dreary palace. So far, so good.
Back in Llanview……..
Stefan/Cole had taken Starr and Hope back to the apartment after their picnic. Starr took a sleepy Hope upstairs to her room and got her ready for bed, then laid her daughter in bed. She gazed at the little girl’s face. She had just noticed that something wasn’t right with Hope. Starr turned Hope’s face to look for the birthmark behind her ear. There was no birthmark. This little girl wasn’t Hope. If this wasn’t Hope, where was her daughter. All of a sudden, it hit her. This wasn’t her family. It wasn’t Cole downstairs. But if it wasn’t Cole, then who was it, and what did he want with her? It made her sick to her stomach knowing she had made love to him.
Starr had to be smart about this. She couldn’t let on that she knew Cole wasn’t who he claimed he was. Until she figured out the real story, she had to play along and let Cole, or whoever he was, believe he was Cole.
Cole found himself in Helena’s office while she was away. He managed to log onto her laptop and get her passcode, thanks to his college friend, Markko. Marrko was a whiz about that stuff. He told Cole how to hack into Helena’s laptop and get the passcode. Cole searched files for where she was hiding Hope. Cole nearly gave up when he finally came across a strange file titled “Starrhope”. Curious, Cole clicked on the file. And he was glad he did. Cole found photos of Starr, Hope and himself and all the information about the three of them. Then he clicked on another file that revealed videos of Hope at a daycare here on the Greek Island.
Now that Cole has found his daughter, he needed to find a way to make his escape, snatch Hope, and make his way back to Llanview.
Back in Llanview……..
Stefan/Cole had just come home from working at the office all day. He was hoping for a romantic night with Starr. Sure enough, Starr was ready for a romantic night, dressed in white lace lingerie. Stefan/Cole that he hit the jackpot when he saw her.
Starr invited him to their bed, kissed him, and started massaging him. Stefan/Cole was getting into it, but Starr was finding it hard to get into this. She only hoped she was a good actress. She didn’t want to let on to Cole that she knew it wasn’t him. She need to be convincing enough so Cole would not suspect she had any idea that it wasn’t him. The only problem was finding a way not to have sex and still be convincing. The thought now repulsed Starr of making love to whoever this man and she didn’t want to betray Cole now that she knew this man wasn’t Cole.
From Stefan/Cole’s point of view, Starr was really getting into the act and Stefan/Cole. He kissed and grabbed Starr indicating that he wanted more, but Starr got her wish as Hope started crying, giving Starr the opportunity to put this tryst to a halt. She told Cole that she heard Hope crying and must go see what was wrong. Obviously hurt, Stefan/Cole reluctantly got up off of Starr and let her tend to Hope.
Starr was more than relieved to be tending to Hope. The thought of having to touch that man made her cringe. She hugged Hope tighter to her chest, thanking Hope for her crying episode. She had to find information on this Cole before things got too far.
The next morning, Starr woke up in Hope’s bedroom sitting in the rocker. She must have dozed off next to Hope’s bed after she heard her cry. Starr hugged Hope, thankful that things didn’t have to do on any further. She knew that when Cole left, Starr would have to do some research on who this man posing as Cole was.
Cole came into Hope’s bedroom after he woke up to find that Starr wasn’t in their bed.
“There you are, Starr. You never came back to bed last night.” Cole inquired.
“I’m sorry. I must have dozed off after I got Hope back to sleep.” Starr told him.
“Well, I have to go to the office now. I’ll see you later tonight?”
Not looking at him, “Yeah, sure. See you tonight.”
Cole grabs his briefcase and leaves, frustrated. Things weren’t going as planned. As Helena promised him they would. Helena told him that if he helped her with this plan, he would have Starr and that little brat they borrowed from his cousin, Misha Cassadine. Helena’s plan was to hide the real Cole in the dungeon at Greek villa and have Stefan Jr. Play “house with Starr and “Hope.” But it wasn’t working out. He had to call his Grandmother.
“Hello, Stefan.” Helena said, hitting the accept button on her cell.
“Grandmother, things aren’t going as planned.” Stefan told her, sounding frustrated.
“Relax, Stefan. Be patient.” Helena told him, sounding irritated.
“Grandmother, you don’t understand. I think Starr suspects something.”
“How can she. She doesn’t know that the real Cole and Hope are still alive. She still thinks they are dead. And I’ve got the real Cole working for me so I can keep an eye on him better.” Helena reminds him.
“Well, Grandmother, I hope you are right?” Stefan tells her.
“Just don’t get to worried, dear. Or Starr will start to worry. Worrying just causes problems. Stop worrying, Stefan, everything will work itself out.”
“Okay, Grandmother. I’m at the office now. Talk to you later.” Stefan says, as he hangs up the cell.
Stefan hoped Grandmother was right. If he couldn’t have Starr as his wife, he would make everyone pay. …….
Meanwhile, at Helena’s Greek villa, Helena had given Cole an assignment to take some mail to the post office to be mailed to the States. Cole got his chance. Everything was set up to grab Hope and leave this miserable place. As soon as Helena gave him instructions with the letters to be mailed at the post office, he lied and told her he was taking Hope to the daycare. That allowed Cole to take Hope and hightail it out after Helena’s letters were dropped off.
He went to the nursery and picked up Hope. He gave her a kiss and a hug. He whispered in Hope’s ear that soon they would see her mommy. Then he took Hope and hopped into the car that he had managed to have hidden away about a mile from Helena’s Greek villa.
As soon as Cole saw the car he had stashed, he felt a sigh of relief. He continued walking towards the car. When he got to the car, he buckled Hope into the carseat, and got into the drivers seat, and drove off.
Cole arrived at the airport and was able to get a flight that would be bound for Llanview, Pennsylvania, USA. He checked in only two bags for him and Hope as he had no time to gather a whole lot. He wanted out of that creepy castle as soon as possible and get back to Starr. God knows what she was going through. All Cole knew was that someone was impersonating him and Hope rom the video he saw Helena as she was talking to someone named Stefan. Cole never did find out why Helena was doing this and he didn’t really care why. He just wanted to get to Starr as quickly as possible because he had a strange feeling that something was not right with Starr; he didn’t know what, but he knew something wasn’t right.
Hope pulled on Cole’s sleeve, indicating that she was hungry. Just in time, as the flight attendant was just coming to their seat asking what they wanted for their meal. Cole asked Hope what she wanted and she picked a chicken finger meal, and Cole picked a BLT with fries meal. The flight attendant brought their dinner promptly within ten minutes of ordering.
Back in Llanview………
Starr managed to fend off an amorous Stefan/Cole saying that she had to visit her father at The Sun. She lied and told her it was an emergency and that her father needed her and Jack and Dani for a emergency family meeting.
But Stefan/Cole didn’t buy the story. He grabbed Starr Hope as she was about to leave and and whisked her in his car. They were heading for the airport to make a quick and hasty flight out of the US. Stefan/Cole couldn’t afford to have the real Cole find Starr now. He would make Starr his, at no cost. Once inside the limo, Stefan/Cole called the airport to see if the Cassadine jet would be ready when they arrived. The air-traffic controller confirmed that it would be ready for take-off when he arrived.
Cole and Hope arrived in Llanview and were getting the bags from baggage claim just as Stefan/Cole, Starr and Hope were arriving at the airport to board the Cassadine jet. Cole hollered out to Starr, but Stefan/Cole quickly held her by the arm and hurried her and Hope to the Cassadine jet. Cole dropped his and Hope’s bags and picked up Hope and followed Starr and Stefan/Cole and and the little girl that was impersonating Hope to the jet they were about to board. Quick on his feet, Cole had already alerted airport security and they had beat Stefan to the jet before he could board with Starr and Hope.
As airport security were taking Stefan in for questioning, Starr ran to Cole waiting arms.
“Cole, I can’t believe it’s you.” Starr exclaimed, crying in his arms.
“I had to come when I figured out what Helena and this Stefan had planned.” Cole said, hugging her.
“I figured out it wasn’t you a few weeks ago, but had to pretend I didn’t know so he wouldn’t suspect.” Starr confessed.
Stefan shouts back as airport security are escorting him out, “You won’t win, Cole! I will have Starr! Just you wait! I’ll be back!
Starr and Cole hugged each other and the real Hope in their arms. They were so happy to finally be together, they ignored Stefan’s warning. They just wanted to get their life back after Cole and Hope were confirmed dead for so long. Starr thought to herself, “It’s so good to have my little girl and Cole back. Something deep inside me told me they were still alive, but for everyone else’s sake, I had to pretend they were dead.”
Stefan is sitting in the holding cell waiting to be transported to the jail when Helena walks in.
“Stefan, you disappoint me so much!” Helena looks at him with a disgusted look.
“This is your fault, grandmother! You promised you had that Cole under your thumb!” Stefan spat back at her.
“If you had just trusted me, Stefan, you wouldn’t be stuck in this cell. You would be on the jet with Starr. But you chose to do things your way.” Helena reminded him.
“Just get me out of her, grandmother.” Stefan pleaded with her.
“I don’t see why I should?”
“Because you owe me!”
“I think I’ll let you sit in here for a night or two. Let you cool your heels for awhile.”
“Please. . .grandmother. . .”
But Stefan’s cries fell on deaf ears as Helena walked out of the jail alone. Stefan was mad. He would seek his revenge when he got out. Grandmother, Cole, and Starr. . .they would be sorry for everything. . . . . .
Starr woke up in Cole’s arms. She jumped out of bed, believing that it was the fake Cole, Stefan.
“What are you doing here?” Starr screamed at the real Cole, who was confused for a moment.
Getting his thoughts together, he calmly got up out o bed, and went to calm Starr down.
“Starr, it’s okay. It’s me, Cole. Stefan is in jail, where he belongs. I got in last night with Hope.”
Looking at him, she kissed him, realizing he was right.
“Oh, Cole, can you ever forgive me?” Starr asked.
“Sh-sh-sh! It’s okay!” Cole holds her. “It’s been a rough year for the three of us.”
Cole pulls Starr in for a romantic kiss on the cheek, then slides her blouse off her arm, rubbing her breast in his fingers. Starr pulls off Cole’s black t-shirt, rubbing his chest with her hand. Cole lays Starr tenderly on their bed and begins to make love to her. They both enjoy a tender moment in each others arms, giving into each other after two long years. After, they lay in each others arms, enjoying each others company.
Suddenly, a loud noise comes from down the hall, almost from Hope’s nursery. Cole jumps up out of bed, slips on his pants, and is outside the bedroom, while Starr fumbles to find her robe.
By the time Starr arrives down in Hope’s nursery, Cole is there, holding an unconscious Hope in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding from a gunshot wound.
“Oh my gosh, Cole! What happened?” Starr exclaims.
“I don’t know. By the time I got here, Hope was bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.” Cole tells a frantic Starr. “I don’t even know how she got shot?”
Without thinking, Starr runs down stairs to retrieve her cell. Starr dials 9-1-1 and is on the phone with a dispatcher by the time she gets back up to Hope’s nursery.
“Yes, I need an ambulance, immediately.” Starr informs the dispatcher.
“What is your location?” the dispatcher asks.
“123 Llanview Terrace, Apt 13.” Starr replies.
“Okay, Miss. We have an ambulance on its way.” the dispatcher tells Starr.
Paramedics arrive and knock on the door, where Starr is waiting to escort them upstairs and down the hall to Hope’s nursery. The paramedics asses Hope’s condition and manage to stabilize Hope’s vitals. They put Hope on a stretcher carry her downstairs and out to the ambulance where she is placed on a gurney. Cole and Starr hop into the ambulance to ride with Hope along with a paramedic inside the ambulance, as the other paramedic hops into the driver’s seat and turns on the siren and drives to Llanview Hospital, where Dr. Michael McBain is waiting for their arrival.
As Dr. McBain is working on Hope, Alison Perkins, dressed as a nurse, comes out and escorts Cole and Starr out into the waiting area. She hands Starr insurance forms for them to fill out while they frantically wait for news on Hope. While Starr is filling out the forms, Cole is calling Starr’s parents, Todd Manning and Blair Cramer, and his mother, Marty Saybrooke about Hope. Concerned, they inform Cole that they are all on their way to the hospital.
Detective John McBain arrives at the hospital to question Cole and Starr and get their permission to go to their apartment to investigate Hope’s nursery for evidence of the shooting. Cole and Starr gladly give John their permission and answer his questions. Afterward, John gives CSU investigator, Natalie Buchanan, and his fiancee the news that she can head over to Cole and Starr’s apartment to investigate any leads in the shooting.
While Cole and Starr, along with Todd and Blair and Marty wait for news of Hope’s condition, Stefan, who is out on bail, courtesy of his grandmother, who felt sorry for him, watches a recording of Starr and Cole at the hospital. Stefan, laughing maniacally to him self, while muttering out loud to himself, “None of you will ever figure out that I was responsible for the gunshot that shot your little girl.”
Natalie Buchanan opens the door to Starr and Cole’s apartment. But she doesn’t get far when she is knocked unconscious. The masked intruder pulls Natalie’s limp body inside the apartment and lays it on the living room floor. Then the intruder rummages through the apartment until they manage to find what they are looking for: the insurance document Stefan had taken out on Starr. The intruder puts the document in his pocket and heads out the window before the door is open by John McBain.
John rushes over to Natalie who is lying unconscious on the floor. After finding a pulse, John frantically rouses Natalie until she comes to.
“Oh, man, my head hurts.” Natalie utters, as she comes out of consciousness. “What happened?”
“I found you lying on the floor when I came in.” John told her , sounding worried.
Natalie looks up at him, “John.” She puts her hand up to his face.
“You gave me a scare when I came in here.”
John was relieved when Natalie woke up. They had had a rough start lately. Natalie had just forgiven him and taken him back, and the two were getting married, so he didn’t want to take no chances.
“Do you want to go home?” John asked. “I can take over here.”
“That’s why I love you. You’re so sweet. I think I’ll be fine. Just a little bump on the head. Besides I want to help you catch this Stefan.” Natalie told him.
“It looks like someone was looking for something.” John says, looking around at Starr and Cole’s trashed apartment.
“Yeah, it wasn’t like this when I was coming in.” Natalie says, remembering. “But that’s all I remember. I don’t even remember coming into the apartment.”
“The intruder must have dragged your body in and ransacked the apartment.” John said.
John went over to the open file box. “Whatever they wanted, they must have found it?”
“Yeah, Starr’s file box is all messed up.” Natalie adds. “Especially the one marked ‘Insurance?’ “
Natalie gives her cousin, Starr a call on her cell, who picks up immediately.
“Hello, Natalie.” Starr says.
“Yes, Starr, did you have some kind of insurance?” Natalie asks her.
“Yes, on Cole and Hope. Why do you ask?”
“We noticed your file box open and your files messed up, especially the insurance file.”
“Who would want insurance forms on Cole and Hope?” Starr questions.
“Those are still here, but there is something missing though. Can’t seem to figure out which one though.”
“I’ll go through it when I get home, Natalie, and get back to you.” Starr tells her.
“Thanks Starr, that would be great.”
They both end the call.
“Well, Starr doesn’t seem to know but would check it out when she gets home.” Natalie informs John.
While Natalie and John search Cole and Starr’s apartment for clues, Starr and Cole are holding vigil waiting for word on Hope.
Dr. Michael McBain comes out of surgery with news for Starr and Cole.
“Michael, how is Hope?” Starr and Cole asked, frantic.
“She came through surgery just fine. She’s in recovery right now. I expect a full recovery. Before you go in to see her, Hope will be a little groggy and sleepy.”
“Thank you, Michael, for everything!” Starr said, with gratitude.
“It’s nothing, Starr. Now go in and see your daughter.” Michael demanded.
Starr and Cole go in first to see Hope. She is still hooked up to a respirator. Starr goes over to Hope’s crib and holds her hand.
“Hey, there, Hope. Mommy and daddy are here.”
Cole pulls up a chair on the other side of the bed and holds Hope’s other hand. Starr holds Cole’s other hand and they sit in silence praying for comfort and strength.
Stefan picks up his cell and pushes the button to Alison’s cell:
“Hello?” Alison Perkins picks up her cell.
“Alison, what is the news on Hope?” Stefan asks.
“Hope made it through surgery and is doing remarkably well.” Alison informs him.
“Dammit, Alison! I thought you said that Hope wasn’t going to make it!”
“Well, it looked like she wasn’t going to pull through. Then Michael McBain pulled a miracle and managed to save Hope.”
“Damn those McBains!” Stefan yelled. “They’ve always been the bane of the Cassadines!”
“Well, boss! What do we do now?” Alison asked.
“I want you to kidnap both John and Michael!” Stefan ordered her.
“Andre will be waiting in the van for you when you lure John and Michael.”
“Got it, boss!”
And Stefan hung up with Alison to let her do what he told her. He called Andre and informed him to wait in the van for word that Alison had John and Michael McBain. The McBain brothers would not foul up his plans.
James Ford had been listening to Stefan’s plans via a bug planted in his room in Llanview. Now that he knew what Stefan’s plans were, James intended to let John and Michael know just what was in store for them. He headed for Llanview hospital to let John and Michael know what Stefan had planned.
As James knocked on Hope Manning-Thornhart’s hospital room, where Cole and Starr were rejoicing at the news that their daughter came through the surgery, there were shots that came through Hope’s hospital window.
Starr ducked and covered Hope with her body as everybody else ducked for cover. When the last of the shots stopped, Cole raised his head and looked over at Hope’s hospital bed and was horrified to see blood coming from Hope. He shook Hope and Starr, only to discover the blood wasn’t Hope’s but Starr’s. Thanks to Starr’s bravery, Hope was saved from the blasts, but Starr was shot several times in the back.
Cole screamed for help and pushed Hope’s call button as Marcy came running into Hope’s room. When she saw what had happened, she paged a code red over the intercom and several nurses and doctors came in to see what was wrong.
“Starr’s been shot!” Cole yelled, as the nurses sprang into action to stop bleeding coming from the back of Starr.
When they had managed to get Starr’s vital signs stablized, she was immediately rushed to O.R. For immediate surgery.
Dr. Michael McBain was paged to surgery, but he was a no-show for Starr’s surgery. No one could find him, or John McBain for that matter.
Allison had seized both Michael and John per Stefan’s orders while the shooting was taking place.
Finally after everything was dying down, Cole looked over in the corner of Hope’s hospital room to find James lying in a pool of his own blood. He had been shot before he could inform Michael and John what was going to transpire, then died almost instantly.
Cole assumed that James was here to convince Starr to come back to him and shouted loudly to a dead-James: “Serves you right, James! You couldn’t handle Starr coming back to me! I’m glad you’re dead!”
Just as he said that, James brother, Nick walked into Hope’s hospital room, “Cole, you have it all wrong!”
“What do you mean?” Cole asked Nick.
“James came here to alert you and Starr that he overheard Stefan ordering Allison Perkins to kidnap John and Michael.”
“James did that?” Cole said shocked.
“Yes, he overheard what Stefan was planning and came here to try stop it.”
“And he got shot and killed in the process.” Cole said. “And Starr may lose her life as well.”
Just as Cole said that, the doctor who was called in to replace Michael walked into Hope’s hospital room.
“Mr. Thornhart, I have good news for you.”
“Starr came through surgery remarkably well and is resting in the adjoining room next to your daughter’s.”
“Oh, thank you doctor.” Cole said. “May I go see her?”
“Yes, you may.”
“Robert, will you look after Hope?”
“I’d be glad to.”
As Robert sat down next to Hope’s bedside, Cole went next door to see Starr. She was resting, still on a ventilator when Cole went inside Starr’s room to see her, along with the doctor.
“It’s only for precaution.” the doctor told Cole. “We will be removing it tomorrow. Starr is making remarkable progress.”
Cole sat down next to Starr and held her hand, “I’m so grateful you’re going to be alright.”
Cole kissed Starr tenderly on the lips as he lay next to her in her hospital bed and held her.
Meanwhile, Allison was driving the van that was supposed to take John and Michael to the abandoned warehouse Stefan ordered her to take John and Michael has gone off the side of the road.
Allison wakes to find John holding a gun on her, as she spies a patrol car sitting next to the wrecked van.
“What is going on?” Allison asks.
“You’re going to take me to whoever order you to kidnap us.”
“Like hell I will!” Allison snapped.
“Yes, you will, or you’ll find yourself behind bars.”
Allison got in the back seat of the patrol car as John got in the driver’s seat and Michael in the passenger’s seat next to John.
Starr woke up to find herself in Cole’s arms. It felt so good to be in his arms, Starr thought. She never wanted to be separated from Cole again. Or Hope either. But just as Starr and Cole were about to make love in her hospital bed, Blair and Todd knock on her door.
“Come in.” Starr said, composing herself before her visitors came in.
“Starr! Cole!” a frantic Blair, with Todd by her side said.
“What’s wrong, mother?” Starr asked, concerned.
“It’s Hope!” Blair said, distraughtly.
“What’s wrong with her?” Cole and Star said in unison.
“She’s been kidnapped!” Blair said, about to fall, but Todd caught her before she could fall.
“Who would take Hope?” Starr said in disbelief.
“Well, they left a note.” Todd said, handing his daughter the note Blair found.
Starr took the note from her father and read it:
If you want to see your daughter again, meet me in our favorite spot.”
The note wasn’t signed, but Starr knew who it was.
“It’s Stefan.” Starr said.
“Are you sure?” Todd asked, with Cole nodding along with him.
“Yes, dad, I’m positive.” Starr explained. “Stefan hasn’t given up on us. He still wants me.”
“Well, I will go with you.” Todd demanded. “I don’t want you to go alone.”
“Dad, that’s nice of you, but I think I can handle Stefan myself.” Starr told her father, touched by his care. “Besides, Stefan won’t want anyone but me there.”
“Then, you’ll wear a wire.” Todd demanded.
“I agree with your father.” Cole told Starr.
“Okay. I’ll wear the wire.” Starr promised, getting up from her hospital bed and getting her clothes.
“Whoa, where are you going?” Todd said.
“I’m getting dressed so I can meet Stefan and get my daughter back.”
“But you’re recovering.”
“I need to get my daughter.” Starr protested. “That’s all that’s matters right now.”
Meanwhile, Stefan looked in on a sleeping Hope in the crib he had gotten her while waiting for Starr to show up.
“Well, Hope, your mommy will be here soon.” Stefan said to Hope. “And we will finally be a family.”
